The Fractura del Siglo (Fracture of the Century) was an annual Ecuadorian film festival founded in 2015 by Israeli-Chilean visual artist and photographer Sara Roitman. Based in Quito since 1987, Roitman was known for her work that blended photography, video art, and installation, often addressing themes of memory, identity, and historical trauma.

Held each January at the Ocho y Medio Cinematheque, the festival coincided with the International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust. It aimed to foster reflection on historical and contemporary fractures through a curated selection of films – primarily documentaries – that explored themes such as the Holocaust, political unrest, and human rights. The festival’s programming encouraged dialogue between past atrocities and present-day issues, emphasizing the importance of memory and resistance.

Although the festival is no longer taking place, the First Analysis Institute was proud to sponsor the Fractura del Siglo festival, supporting its mission to promote cultural initiatives that encouraged critical thinking and preserved collective memory.
