2024-2025 Nicklin Fellows

September 30, 2025

The Nicklin Fellowship, sponsored by FAI, empowers undergraduate students to pursue independent intellectual projects exploring fundamental questions of existence. This year’s fellows will lead seminars and reading groups on works including The Cloud of Unknowing, The Human Condition, Master and Margarita, and The Brothers Karamazov.

The Nicklin Fellowship is a prestigious, competitive program that provides undergraduate students with access to research grant funds to pursue independent intellectual projects. Designed to support students exploring fundamental questions of existence, the fellowship encourages inquiry into philosophy, literature, and the broader human experience, while fostering a community of robust intellectual friendships grounded in a shared love of truth, beauty, and goodness.

The First Analysis Institute of Integrative Studies (FAI) is proud to sponsor the Nicklin Fellowship and congratulates the 2024–2025 cohort for their dedication and accomplishments. This year’s fellows are preparing several student-led initiatives for the upcoming fall semester:

  • Brady Sontoro – Leading a reading group on The Cloud of Unknowing

  • Alex Hu – Coordinating a University of Chicago faculty-led seminar on Hannah Arendt’s The Human Condition

  • Yixin Chi – Leading a student reading group on Mikhail Bulgakov’s Master and Margarita

  • Jacob Neplokh – Writing an article for an online journal reflecting on his experience leading a reading group on Dostoevsky’s The Brothers Karamazov

FAI looks forward to sharing updates and insights from these upcoming student-led programs.
